Research Interests
Dr. Zipursky is Professor and Tapscott Chair in Schizophrenia Studies and Head of the Schizophrenia Program in the Department of Psychiatry. His research has been focused on the application of MRI and PET to the study of schizophrenia and on the treatment and outcome of first episode psychosis. Dr. Zipursky’s research using MRI has demonstrated that schizophrenia is associated with widespread deficits in cortical gray matter volume and has explored the extent to which MRI findings are related to disease severity, treatment response and drug exposure. He has developed an extensive clinical research program in the field of first episode psychosis which integrates research on prevention, antipsychotic treatment, psychosocial interventions and illness outcomes.
