There is a strong emphasis on translating research findings into clinical applications. For example, our genetics team is developing pharmacogenetic tests that will be used in psychiatry and family practice to predict medication side effects in a given individual patient. Other scientists are working on a peptide that can modify dopamine receptor targets in the brain, resulting in a novel mechanism to treat depression and schizophrenia.
