June 14, 2012, 8:00 am to June 14, 2012, 5:00 pm at Munk School of Global Affairs.

I am delighted to announce that this years keynote research address will be delivered by Dr. John Krystal, the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University. Dr. Krystal is also the editor of Biological Psychiatry and he and his group have published several landmark papers in schizophrenia and depression research.

Given that last years format was well received, we will repeat it this year. That is, the keynote lecture will be followed by five 30-minute plenary lectures. We again request that all members of our Department consider submitting their highest impact publication for the period April 2011 to March 2012 for consideration as a plenary lecture. The Harvey Stancer Research Day committee will then select the 5 top papers for plenary presentation. Last year only 9 papers were submitted, so I urge you all to consider submitting your top manuscript and have your accomplishments recognized by our department.

Following this morning session, we will retain the following themes for the afternoon breakout sessions, which will be chaired by our plenary lecturers:

  • Health Systems and Social Policy
  • Basic Neuroscience
  • Imaging Neuroscience
  • Clinical Research, including Clinical Trials
  • Quality Improvement and Education Research

Finally, there will be 50 poster slots available that will also follow this thematic format. The awards for best oral and poster presentations will be announced at the annual departmental dinner and will be selected by our plenary lecturers. Several new awards will also be presented so remember to submit your abstracts early.

Harvey Stancer Research Day will return to the Munk Centre in 2012, a venue that is always enjoyed by all. However, attendance needs to be limited to the first 150 registrants as space is limited so please register early! The online Research Day Abstract submission system will be open on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 21 and the deadline for submission of papers, oral presentations and abstracts will be FRIDAY, MARCH 23, 2012.

All attendees (including those not presenting) must register online by March 23, 2012:
