Congratulations to Dr. Mark Halman on being selected as a recipient of the 2012 Casey Awards. The Casey Awards pay tribute to June Callwood while recognizing and honouring individuals or organizations that have demonstrated leadership and have made exemplary contributions in the areas of HIVIAIDS and social justice. This Award recognizes Dr. Halman’s wide-reaching professional career as a leader, clinician and educator has been an inspiration to those who work with people living with HIV/AIDS. His work at St. Michael’s Hospital and Casey House has had an influence on the delivery of clinical care locally, nationally and internationally. In particular they highlighted Dr. Halman’s initiation of the Mental Health Seminar Series at Casey House which now reaches beyond our walls to a wider audience influencing direct care providers and decision makers in 59 agencies across the GTA. The Casey Awards will be presented at SnowBall, on February 25th in Toronto. The criteria established for selecting recipients for the Casey Awards mirror the values and attributes which were the guiding principles of June Callwood’s life.
